NBA Internships

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America known for organizing and governing top-tier basketball competition globally. Founded in 1946, the NBA oversees 30 teams, each representing major cities in the United States and Canada. The league showcases elite basketball talent, including some of the world’s best players, who compete in regular-season games followed by playoffs culminating in the NBA Finals. Beyond its sporting events, the NBA is a major entertainment brand, generating revenue through broadcasting rights, merchandise sales, and sponsorships. It also promotes social responsibility initiatives, youth programs, and international outreach to expand its fan base and support basketball development worldwide.

The National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as every individual team within the association, offer internships to students who are academically strong and passionate about basketball. Experience with the National Basketball Association is an impressive resume addition, regardless of where students wind up in their careers.

The NBA league office offers summer internships to students between their junior and senior years and to graduate students. The internships are all in New York City or Secaucus, New Jersey. Internships last for ten weeks and interns participate in events and activities that allow them to learn how the business of the NBA really works.

Each of the NBA, WNBA, and Development (AKA the G League) teams also offer a variety of internships to basketball aficionados. Internships are available in towns where professional basketball teams play ball. There are many departments that hire interns at different times of the year. Intern opportunities are offered in departments such as Graphic Design, Human Resources, Public Relations, Community Relations, Basketball Operations, Ticket Sales, Marketing, Promotions, Game Operations, Social Media, Photography, or many others depending on the team.
